Cycling Central PA for Fun and Fitness

Hello all,
Been recharging my batteries for a couple/few months and thinking ahead to 2011.

I figure on running the "Cabin Fever" Sunday morning MTB rides out of our place in Glen Rock just after hunting season is over. I think that's after the 2nd week of January. These will be "invitation only" rides, as all trails are on private property and I can't be showing up with a peloton of 15 riders on a Sunday morning. The loop is up to 8 miles now, no trail ridden twice, with about a mile of new trail added since last year. We'll run these from mid-January to mid-March every Sunday. About a 1 1/2 hour ride followed by brats flame broiled on the Vogelzang. We'll have you home in time for the game. E-mail me if you want to be on the invite list. I'll invite about 10 people per week, figuring on getting no more than 6 or 8 to show up on any given Sunday.

The next brainstorm for the coming year: a resurrection of the TNTR, AKA the Tuesday Night Training (or Torture as some would have it) Ride. Some significant changes since we last ran these in 2009 though. We'll start at that little county park on Windy Hill Rd near Shrewsbury and ride a nice quiet 3.5 mile loop.  It has a couple of hills in it, all right hand turns and very little traffic for safety. This is the kind of ride where you can get your heart rate up enough to blow the crud out of your circulatory system and get that "good feeling" in your quads. I missed that this past season (Really!) These are the kind of rides that make the weekend group rides a breeze. You don't have to be super fast to participate, just have a desire to ride hard for about an hour.

To keep it all interesting we'll run different types of rides each Tuesday, repeating each month. For example, each Tuesday we'll always start with a warm up lap. From there we can run different formats that should prove to be fun such as: a) Interval Night, b) Team Pursuit Night c) Paceline Practice Night d) Hare n'Hounds Night and so on. The location is right off I-83 Exit 4, We'll probably run about 8 laps each Tuesday. Last lap for a cool down. Feeding frenzy at Bill Bateman's directly after the ride.

Let me know if this sounds interesting to you. I like hosting rides but only if some enthusiasm results from it.

Have a great SNCWGG season! That's Seasonal Non-denominational Capitalist Wintertime Gift-Giving season. (My teenage daughter clued me in to that one!) :-)

Awesome , keep me in the loop for this then !!
Sounds like a good time.  What time will the Tuesday night rides start?
5:30 PM
I would be interested in this as well. please let me know when this is happening.

Ryan,

Will do.  I'll post the first one of these on the YCC webpage at least.  After that I'll probably only single post on the ycscu.com yahoo page, just to make my life easier!  Should start up about the first Tuesday after the first day of spring.

Thanks for the interest.  It's feeling like it's time to get to work, isn't it?
